TABLAO VILLA ROSA, Madrid
Tickets from 41.50 USD
One of Flamenco's most emblematic locations in Madrid, Villa Rosa was first opened its doors in 1911 and was later established as a private hire venue closely linked to the Flamenco scene - the legendary Don Antonio Chacón himself was the heart and soul of these Fiestas throughout the 20's, and during Flamenco's golden age the Villa Rosa was known as the
Temple of Flamenco.
Though located in the heart of Madrid the original decoration is unabashedly Andalusian, with Arabian arches inspired by the vaulted ceilings of the Alhambra and hand-painted tiles showing scenes inspired by the Andalusian culture. Its colorful history has inspired many - it was famously featured in the Pedro Almódovar film
Tacones Lejanos and has hosted such famous guests as Ernest Hemingway, Ava Gardner and even King Alfonso XIII (who allegedly visited Villa Rosa via subterranen tunnels connecting it to the palace!) In 2002 the venue reaffirmed its connection with its Flamenco roots, hosting popular song recitals, before being converted into a Tablao in all its current splendour in 2011.
The Tablao prides itself on producing a varied programme, working with around 40 top artists who are rotated regularly, giving a vitality of performance to match its authenticity. If you wish you can complete this unique experience by indulging in Villa Rosa's traditional Spanish menu while you enjoy the show!
